The Copenhagen Sakura Festival 2008
The tradition in Japan is to go and look at the cherry blossoms, sit under the trees and enjoy each other’s company while having a picnic.
Now that we have cherry trees in Copenhagen, we would like to import the tradition and enjoy the cherry blossoms together with the Danes.
This year the Copenhagen Sakura Festival Committee was established with the cooperation of the Copenhagen Municipality,
the Embassy of Japan, JETRO and other Japanese related companies and organizations.
The festival will be held on 26 and 27 April at Langelinie Park from 10:00 to 17:00.
Demonstrations of various Japanese art forms will be held on stage, including Budo and a kimono show,
and there will be a number of small booths where you will be able to see Japanese craftsmen at work making tops,
wireworks, candy, woodcarving, etc. There will also be an opportunity to sample Japanese food.
The official logo of the Copenhagen Sakura Festival has been found!Thank you very much for taking part in the competition to find an official logo for the Copenhagen Sakura Festival. The winning logo (see below) has been chosen from the many entrants and will be used as the official logo of the Copenhagen Sakura Festival from now on.
